Default Can 'maters get too much rain??

We've had unseasonal rain for the last ten days solid, and my 'maters' leaves are starting to look tired and are yellowing, particularly the ones still in grow bags.

Should I move them under cover if space allows, until the sun returns from wherever it's gone?

I suggest you leave them in the outdoors, but spray them with funginil, a sticker and maybe a foliar feed like Supranure. Having the same probs here in Vereeniging

Huntsman, they can get too much water, actually, if the soil is waterlogged the roots could literally be drowning. I would think of a way to divert any additional rain water away for a while (till the ground dries some). Could cover the ground around them with something until the rains subside, maybe.

It probably wouldn't hurt to move some of the ones in grow bags under cover and let the soil dry out some, especially if they're not draining well.

I dread the seasons where the rain goes non stop it takes beautiful green tomato plants and brings out the disease which take over so fast. So I sympathize with your plight right now.

Last year was one of those wet seasons and I tried agricultural cornmeal because I was desperate and went online to research what could help fight disease. I ordered some and spread it around I think it might have helped but my area was also hit with that blight taking over in the eastern part of the country. I'd like to try it again in a "normal" year to see if there's any truth that it actually helps.

Man!

Another deluge of this wonderful liquid today....

Tomorrow they all go under cover.

This funginil comes from a nursery, Geoff?

Hells yeah, especially when it's unusually hot or cold, excessive rain can cause a meltdown of both fruit and vines ;~( Been there.....
