Default Meet Tom Merrick, the elephant mater

I always wondered what a fused superbloom would look like. Well, I let one grow out and it is one ugly sucker. Meet the elephant mater. He is an Indian Stripe, fyi. (the last one shows his good side.)

Yeah, that is something I would expect to see in the jar of formaldehyde, in the lab Mother nature, what do we know! I don't think I've ever seen this kind of "fusion"

Regards,
D

that's pretty awesome. My first green giant flower to appear looks like it is a fusion of 3-4 flowers. It's yet to drop, so I'm hoping that I get a psycho fruit like yours.

How on earth did you get your Indian Stripes so early? I'm in zone 9A south of Houston and mine haven't even started to blush yet!

Bigbubba - this one happened to be in a 2.5 gallon pot as it was a reserve that I'd hoped to transplant, but never got a spot for it. After it set that one, it didn't seem to care about doing much else but growing and ripening that fruit. My other IS's, in earthtainers, are still at least 2 weeks away, if not more. I assume that being in a small pot like that, it had very little incentive to put on foilage and did this instead.

That thing is going to give me nightmares. I hope it tastes better than it looks!

There's no tomato too ugly for me. There's just "eaters" and then "freezers". I usually process and freeze the uglier one quickly to protect others in my home who scare too easily.
