Golden Ponderosa question?
I just lost my lone Golden Ponderosa to TSWV and fusarium wilt. Talk about overkill!
Any way I wanted to see if anyone who has had experience with this variety could tell me if it has time or the ability to withstand the heat to try it as a fall tomato? I will be planting the last of my fall seed varieties this next week and wondering if I should include it. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me. |

b54red-Sorry to hear of your loss. Both of my GP's are doing well and loaded with fruit. Growing these 2 plants is the extent of my experience though. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in and give you more useful information. I will let you know if things change though.

Paul thanks for the reply. Let me know how it tastes in case I don't get a chance at it this fall.

Paul, I went ahead and started some seeds from Golden Ponderosa and hope they will do better in the fall. Enclosed is a pic showing what fusarium and TSWV can do in a couple of days when they join forces.

Bill-Wishing you the best of luck with your fall maters. From all reports, GP is a really good mater. Keep me posted.

Bill,
It's worth a try. Mine always get sick and die, but I love the flavor and color and I just can't get my head over not having it in the garden. Your fruits may not be as large before ripening due to fall weather. John |

Bill: Ive eaten several Golden Ponderosa's and I think they taste good. They have a mild taste, but I like it.
Good luck with your maters. Happy Matering, Paul |
