Default The Vet's Crossroads

In my childhood more than 40 ears ago there was a sudden noise. In the nearby crossroads a car driven by the veterinary from the nearest smalltown had crashed with a lorry/truck carrying potatoes. In the crash the veterinary (who was probably driving to an emergeny and therefore in a hurry) was killed and many potatoes were shattered on the road and nearby. Since that the crossroads (which has been rebuilt as a T in the meantime) has been called "the vet's crossroads", even after I left the place. Only the first year there were volunteer potatoes in the roadside, so they apparently don't have the capability to naturalise in Denmark. The "safe" depth where it never freezes is 90 cm (almost 3 foot), but only plumbers have to take that into account, and they routinely place pipes in places where they freeze inside houses.
