I found bacon flavored vodka for bloody marys
http://www.drinkhacker.com/2010/07/3...lavored-vodka/ But I don't see how much bacon flavor could be bred into a tomato. Even the described "smoky" taste of some black varieties is a bit of a stretch IMO. The grape flavored apples have grape (soda) flavoring put on the skin. |

Azoychka
I grew Azoychka this year, and really liked it.
The plants have been relatively healthy, the tomatoes were ripe by the beginning of August and I am still picking delicious fruit and at the end of September. That said, they don't taste like bacon! However, they are excellent in a BLT sandwich. PJ |

We have had a handful that tasted like bacon over the years, moreso the smell than the taste. Usually blacks, but also some yellows. Just have to luck into the right conditions, whatever those may be. If I cut open a tomato and it smells like bacon to me, and I call wife into the garden and ask her what this tomato smells like and she says "bacon", you better believe the tomato smells like bacon. A friend to whom I gave plants had a tomato in the fridge (for some reason), cut it open and it smelled like bacon, and he thought it was contaminated by the smoked meat in the fridge beside it. He got another from the garden, sliced it, and got the same bacon aroma. It happens.

You are all missing it. A sandwich made from a tomato that smells/tastes like bacon would not need bacon and therefore it would be a...
TLC sandwich. is that tomato, lettuce, cheese, or is it Tender Loving Care? DarJones |

Brad's Black Heart comes the closest of any tomato that I have
had. It does not exactly "taste like bacon", it simply tastes like it has "bacon flavor added", or something like that. This year, in cool weather, that aspect of the flavor was not as noticeable, and it depends on how ripe they are when you eat them, too. (I replace the lettuce with fresh swiss chard; more flavor, more nutrition.)

I usually skip the lettuce. Bacon, tomato and mayo are all I really need.

Totally agree. Lettuce is 'roughage', if you use whole grain bread, you do not need more of it. Do not quote me on this (here at this site), but you can eliminate the tomato too...and the bread and Mayo...what the heck...bacon is bacon...might even work on a PB&J...hmm..that's something I'll have to try...should be good.
