If you like salsa, this recipe can't be beat. I add about 1 tsp. of apple cider vinegar to this.

If you have a local food pantry, homeless shelter, etc. they would gratefully receive a donation of fresh food, especially tomatoes so late in the season.

You can also make tomato jelly

TOMATO JELLY
5 c. tomatoes, peeled & chopped
5 c. sugar
1 lg. Jell-O, any flavor (esp. raspberry, strawberry, etc)
Squash tomatoes. If watery, cook for awhile. Add sugar and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Slowly add Jell-O, stir to dissolve.
Put in jars and tighten lids. Turn jars upside down to seal. Or you may use wax on top to seal the jelly. If using wax to seal, do not turn jars upside down.

Use it just like any other jelly or jam, it sounds gross at first but it does not taste like ketchup or anything like that hard to explain but will taste more like a fruit jam.

Nice idea, tomato jam
My wife made salsa last night used 5 lbs also.
My Brandywine, and Stump of the World still had nice large fruit this week, UNBELIVABLE YEAR HERE.
Now i still have 1-2 gallons of Black cherries, some still on small branches too ripen slowly inside.
A food pantry moved across the street from me, I hate to say this but here goes, they had 3 paid workers, you cannot deliver food there, you have to set up for food weeks before he get a time to pick up a bag only by appointments. They teach English to anyone at night , in the summer they might do something for kids for school bags or materials. This is a professional food pantry which does just enough to pay 3 workers open from 9-4, and begs for help all the time to be Tax free!!!!!! the people show up in brand new cars picking up a bag of food , none fresh only cans and jars. I did cook dinners 1 night a month for anyone who came to the church, that's much better in my mind to help than this Pantry, they do help at these dinners either, very lazy in my mind

That's unfortunate- their website shows green, leafy things at the tops of the grocery bags. There's probably somewhere else fairly close by. We live in a fairly rural area and yet have 3 options within our normal driving routes that allow drop-off any time they're open; and folks are VERY happy to see anything fresh, rather than canned. I figure that anyone who would show up, wait in line, fill out the required paperwork and go through the interviewing/qualifying process isn't doing it because it's easy, fun, or too yummy to pass up, but it's more than likely that for whatever reason, at this moment in time, it's necessary for them and/or their family in order to help make ends meet.

In our town very old one, just this week there were historians trying finally saying which town here was where the Navy started? Marblehead or Beverly, Still no one knows?

We have a town owned public garden which has 30- 10/15 ft little ones, for people who not have land for a garden, they were to make it bigger next year, but the Bootstraps people said, any more food growing is the new ones, they want 1/2 of the total vegs from them. So it is not going nice now, i herd this from friends i have been giving tomatoes to.
