History of Zore's Big Red?
Does anyone know the history of Zore's Big Red? I can't find very much information on it. It looks really good based on a picture.

Another SSE member got it from Neil and says about the same and also says excellent flavor on a problem free tomato. His seeds from Neil. Suze, who is co-admin here at Tville also lists it, her seeds from Neil in 2007 and says indet, PL, 85-90 days,, wispy foliage, average yield of 14-18 oz red hearts with superb flavor, a favorite. I don't know where Will Bonsall got it from. Where do you see a picture and where are seeds being sold commercially? Just curious. Well, I just Googled it and found out where pictures are shown and where seeds are sold: http://www.google.com/search?q=Zore%...l=&oq=&gs_rfai=

I am not aware of anyone selling the seeds. It is available in SSE Yearbook.

Thanks for the information! I saw the name and thought maybe someone did an interesting cross of NAR with a heart. Based on the taste information, it sounds like it is still worth a try. It would be nice if production was a little better.

I last grew Zore's Big Red in 2008 and it was a hit in our garden. Flavor and size were excellent, growth habit was on the very large side. Flavor was a nine on a scale of ten (rather meaningless I know). The one plant gave 30 1/2 pounds of fruit with an average size of 11 oz. The largest tomato was 28 oz.with most in the 10-15 oz range. My seeds came from the SSE yearbook.

ZBR was nice for us this year great flavor. It was low on the production side though, but that might might have been from the high heet and lack of rain in the late summer.

It's on my grow list for this year, so we'll see how well it does in OK
