MOST PRODUCTIVE?

Trying to narrow my list for tomatoes this year...I'd like to know what is your most productive large (over 8 oz.) tomato (any type)? My garden is small, so I want at least one plant that can really put out the tomatoes. Any suggestions?

Assuming you are wanting heirlooms or op's


Athinson is a tomato machine for me, averages 10-12 oz.

Great Divide is a great producer, 10-20 oz, a late tomato with a lot of seeds.

Rebecca Sebastian's Bull Bag usually produces 25 or more tomateos that average a pound or a little better.

Thanks for the help-I think I may have some Rebecca Sebastian's somewhere...I don't think I have the others. I've been wanting to try the RSBB but wasn't sure how it'd perform.

I recommend Kosovo and/or Neves Azorean Red,both are very productive and Tasty as well

As I'm sure you know that changes every year. This past year which was not near normal at all, my three best producers were:
Tarasenko6 - Red
Barlow Jap - Pink
Liz Birt - Pink
Mrs Benson - Pink
Brandywine-Glicks - Pink
My Cowlicks (P.L.) didn't fair as well this year, (first time for that, but all my tomatoes were started much later than normal). Although the rarer Brandywine Cowlick's (R. L.) did do better than the P.L.
Sandul Moldovan was quite a producer also.
All are varieties that did well in other years in the past except for Liz Birt which I grew for the first time this past season. Have a great gardening season!

Boy, it does change! And so does our taste, the varieties, and always the weather! My cowlicks didn't do well this year, either, but none of my maters did. Peppers did well later on in the season. I do have some Liz Birt and NAR, but haven't grown them out yet. Can anyone suggest a good large pear or oxheart type that's productive, too?

With the constant changes from year to year that would be rather difficult. This past year the #1 producer was Indian Stripe, followed by Barlow Jap, Tarasenko6, Liz Birt, Sandul Moldovan, and Brandywine-Glicks and Brandywine Sudduth's. Then Dana's Dusky Rose, Bear Creek, and Mrs Benson.
The year before Cowlick's Brandywine was my top producer along with Rose, Limbaugh's Legacy, Dora, Barlow Jap, Tarasenko6, Gigantesque, Amazon Chocolate, and Dana's Dusky Rose. Also Gary O'Sena, Earls Faux, Sandul Moldovan and Wessells Purple Pride.
Before that: Cowlick's Brandywine, Stump of the World, Kellogg's Breakfast, Sandul Moldovan, Sun-Gold, Opalka, Caspian Pink, Box-car Willie, Red Brandywine, Lillians Yellow Heirloom, Goldie, Carbon, German Johnson, Aunt Ginny's Purple, Pink Sweet, Black Brandywine, Yellow Brandywine, Dr Wyche's, Yellow Brandywine and Pineapple.
I'd have to dig out my journals to go back any further accuritely. But like I said, it changes every year.

Kosovo is a very productive large heart. Linnies Oxheart was also large and productive but not as tasty.

Neves Azorean Red is one of the largest heavy producers I have ever grown.

Below is a list of others that have been consistent producers of good size tomatoes that are all fairly tasty or very tasty.

I'm sorry I overlooked Marianna's Peace in my list. It was my most productive large beefsteak year before last and was pretty good last year.

Good, I have a few of these. Funny, but I think I was one of the first (besides Doug Oster himself) to trade Limbaugh's legacy (it was just potato top back then), but it didn't do all that great for me. And it was grown around here for ages! It's been awhile, though, maybe I should give it another chance .

Limbaugh's and Stump were my favorite large pinks this past season. The year before it was Marianna's Peace and Brandy Boy. Despite that if I could only grow one large beefsteak then I would probably grow Neves Azorean Red. It outproduced all of the other large beefsteaks and the average size of the fruit was considerably larger. It had one other advantage in that it handled our heat and humidity a bit better, but I don't know how it would do up your way.
