Default Catching rain water

I am just curious at what you guys think about catching rain water off of a shingle roof. Would the petroleum in the shingles effect the water or not?

My plants say no

I really don't know and I have seen this question asked many times with no definitive answers.

I use rainwater for blueberries (because they like the acidity) and spider plants (because they hate the chlorine and floride in my tap water). Neither plant has done anything but grow well with rainwater.

I really don't think it would be a problem. It's a very conservation-minded thing for you to do.
