Default Saving seed

Is there any reason why I can't save seeds from fruits with BER? I wasn't sure if there were maturity issues but these are completely red. My Sophie's Choice and Gregori's Altai seem to be having trouble with it.

Also, is there a problem with adding a little water to the seeds of meatier fruit that have less juice for the fermentation process? I had to do this last year with several varieties then thought maybe the tap water would be a problem with the chlorine. It breaks down eventually and didn't seem to impede the process. Just curious

Can't speak to your first question for sure, but I've not
had a problem with fermented seeds that I have also
added water to.
Should be OK to do.

Saving seeds from fruit with BER is just fine, as is adding a little water. Go for it!

Some techniques I have read about for saving seeds use chlorine (helps in eliminating seed-borne diseases) so the little tiny bit in your tap water is not going to harm anything and it certainly doesn't seem to stop or interfer with the fermentation process.

Thanks for the responses, I thought someone had told me it was OK with the BER fruits but wasn't sure. The incoming fruit is few and far between at this point and it's nice that these can at least be used for seed saving.

I'm glad you asked. I had my first fruit with a blush on it today -- Marianna's Peace -- and was super-excited until I picked it to find a huge BER blackspot on it. I was thinking that if I may have more of that going on, it might be nice to at least get saved seed out of those fruit, but I wasn't sure if it was OK.
