Planting whole tubers
On most spuds there is a very dense cluster of eyes on one end of the potato. I read last year to scrape off all of these and try to promote the side eyes to grow. I did that and it seemed to increase production. My question is...I just received my potatoes from Mr. Wagoner and was wondering if you think it really is the thing to do or not. Some varieties only have one specimen and I don't want to hurt my chances of a good healthy plant.

I took some pre-sprouted in a tray of soil, snapped off the long rooted sprouts, then re-planted the seed potato and let the other eyes take over from there. I figure I got some pull sprouts potted up as well as the main plant.
