Default Ledoux Special - the vine

Can anyone tell me what Ledoux Special looks like? The vine & leaves that is. I have one currently that is doing beautifully, but it kind of reminds me of Charlie Brown's Christmas tree or some kind of alien plant. lol.. All the leaves are on the bottom, then out of the top pops up two stems with a lot of flowers/fruits (kind of like an antenna). Is this normal?

I don't know if it's normal so I just checked my 2011 SSE YEarbook and four list it and no one says anything about what you describe. They all say indet, PL foliage, large pink fruits and give the size they got, and they all give some historical background on it as well as their seed sources.

Hopefully someone will come along who has grown it and can tell you first hand if something is abnormal with your plant. You say your plant, singular, but are you growing other plants of this same variety and do they look different as well?

Hi Carolyn,

I only have one of Ledoux Special, but have a total of 15 plants, all different. All doing fantastic in their 5 gal buckets. I'll have to take a picture of it so you can see it. It is quite funny looking, to me any ways, and in comparison to all the others I have.

I'm growing 4 Ledoux Spécial Rose plants this year and they all look like the other Pl varieties. 2 of them are showing the first blossoms - just like the other PL's do. clara

It is as described above. Pink potato leaf large fruit. I have not seen anything that would show unusual growth in my plants. You can get seed from Marianna's.

The plant does have potato leaves, the fruit is still coming in. It's the top of the plant, where two vines come up, that is completely bare of leaves, only having flowers and/or fruit. I must get the picture to show it.
