Fruit development question.
Good morning to everyone.
I wanted to get some opinions from the board members as to fruit development. Apologies if this has been discussed. All plants are in identical soils, and all receive identical amounts of water and fertilizer. Plant number "1" celebrity tomato variety. Fruit facing west. Plant number "2" celebrity tomato plant. Fruit facing west. Plant number "3" again, celebrity tomato. Fruit receiving slightly less afternoon sun. Thanks to all, and sorry for the beginner question. |

I don't really see a question in your thread - though I have experienced this too, a little bit. It appears on my plants, the fruit is tilted to some degree.
Never noticed this before. |

Did you save seeds from Celebrity last year?

Celebrity is a hybrid.

That's exactly why I asked.

No, I bought some seedlings at the nursery.
I was just curious why some of the fruit is pale green in color, and some have dark green stripes on the top. Maybe the plants were mislabeled. I just grabbed a whole flat. Apologies for the ambiguity of the post. |

I guess it is possible that someone put another variety back into that flat.
I'm sorry I can't be of any help. I grew Celebrity once, and when I grew it, there wasn't a reason to remember much about it. Those two plants have fruit that looks pretty different. I thought there was a size difference too, but that probably has everything to do with the distance you took the photos at. |

Thank you for the comment Fred.
There is indeed a difference in the size of the fruit, not sure as to the cause. I hear you on the variety I chose. I have never had much luck growing tomatoes, the girls at the nursery steered me toward the celebrity. They described it a a variety that I could have some success with. I grew some "early girl" plants, but lost about 60% to blossom end rot. |
