Default 2011 so far

Hi Gang.

Haven't visited Tomatoville in a while, but it's good to be back. We seem to have entered the summer swelter here in northern Louisiana, but the tomatoes are doing beautifully.

This year, I'm really impressed with The Dutchman. It has already produced more fruit than Sudduth's Brandywine ever did. One fruit is measuring in at 5 inches in diameter and growing! Chocolate Cherries are starting to trickle in, as are Matt's Wild Cherries. Radiator Charlie's Mortgage Lifter isn't going to make it. A variety called Blue Ridge Mountain seems to be doing well. Fruiting up nicely and big beautiful potato leaves. We'll see how it does. We also have a few Better Boys just to satisfy our itch for fried green tomatoes later on, and they're HOOOOOGE!

No tomato hornworms so far.....knock on wood.

Welcome back- glad to hear that your season is going so well. I'm trying Dutchman and Blue Ridge Mtn. too this year but they don't even have open blossoms yet. Tomato hornworms were the worst I've ever seen last year, so I'm hoping also not to see any...at least for a while.
