Default Bhut Jolokia

Is this Bhut Jolokia? I got seeds in a trade. Have never grown it before. I thought Bhut Jolokia looked more like a Habanero. Perhaps my seed is crossed...

Dang. That's what I thought. I'll have to give it another go next year.

Not the best pic of mine, but this is what they should look like.

Takanosume is one of my favorite chilis, so dont feel bad about it. Heat is nice, taste is great, and I use them to make chili paste.

Remy

Did you start your Bhut Jalokia from seed? If so when did you start your seeds? I got my seeds late this winter and think I started them too late this winter. My plants do not have any flowers yet. Not sure if I'll get any peppers this season unless I dig up the plants this fall and bring them indoors.

Not Remy, but I'm in pretty much the same zone you are, just the other side of the lake. I started mine in mid-Febuary and I'm seeing the first few bhut's ripen now. I grow all my long season peppers in black containers to give them some extra heat though, the ones I've tried in the ground have never done as well as the containers.

Thanks Mark,

I got a later start with my seedsthan you, early March I think. Tranplanted them into a raised bed garden in early June. We see what happens, if anything.
