Check your computer. Your photo of the 12 inch hornworm failed to show up in your post. or maybe not. ron |

Naw!! Worth got that batch of 12 inch hornworms from us up here in Tennessee. And, you know, that's at least the second time we Tennesseans have helped out those Texicans.

I think it's just the way men measure things...
By the way, over on a cooking forum there is a thread entitled "Revenge is a dish best served fried". Apparently these hornworms are fairly tasty stirfried in a bit of olive oil and garlic! |

Really? LOL
I did see a few this year that were close to five inches long and as thick as a finger, and I thought that was enormous! They were not on the tomato plants, though - mostly seen at the base of various trees (or trying to crawl up the trees) in the backyard. I of course immediately terminated them with extreme prejudice. |

Suze do you have cissus trifoliata growing in your yard?
I dont think you do but it has one hornworm type caterpillar that only eats this plant. These things get huge and the horn falls off after a while. I have them here when it rains. Worth |

Worth, no I don't have any cissus trifoliata aka Cow-Itch vine (which I had to google because I'd never even heard of it)
