Default Attack of the 3 year old Tomato Hunter

I decided to choose an avatar for myself and came across this photo... It's from 2 years ago when one of my twin boys was 3 years old and took it upon himself to declare war on my tomatoes. It was such fun for him to rush up to my plants and pluck a tomato (green or ripe, didn't matter) and then take a big bite, or run away gleefully laughing... I love the one photo where he has such an obvious mischevious intent in his eyes...

I am just happy it was such a good tomato season in the PNW that year as I had more than enough to go around... It really was a great game that he and I played, though many times when I lost rack of him and he reached for a nice large unripe one, I would run towards him yelling, "NOOOOOOOO!!!!"

I was going to post this in the common pests thread, but I can't think of him as a pest, despite his best efforts!

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you had similar stories...

I love the photos! You can see the mischievousness in his eyes. My best photo is only in my mind. Maybe someday I can get someone to snap a real photo. It features my not quite two year old great grandson leading me around my garden by one finger as he examines each plant and makes some gibberish comments as we walk finger in hand. He is usually dressed for the occasion in his Texas Rangers ball cap and firemen's rubber boots. Early in the spring, I taught him how to pull some young green onions from the soil and now he is always looking for something to harvest. I think I have a gardener in training.

I can picture the scene in my mind, Ted... Very cute. Some of my earliest memories is of my Dad's vegetable garden when I was 3-4... He mainly grew corn and potatoes (he's still obsessed with them today at 82)... I am growing some seiglinda potatoes for him this year... He never grew tomatoes and still only likes them in ketchup, so my tomato genes came from my Mom...

My two year old girl attacked my tomatoes for an entire summer 2 years ago. I had to give up and let her have at them. She's figured things out this year, but is more interested in the watermelons.
