Default pith necrosis ???

On one of my tomato plants the leaves in the mid to top portion of the plant are turning yellow (often times on new suckers). When I cut the sucker out, the stem is hollow.

After doing some google searches, I thought it might be pith necrosis, but I only have the two symptoms mentioned above, and not all of the symptoms associated with pith necrosis.

Are there any diseases that closely resemble pith necrosis, but only have yellowing of the leaves and hollow stems? Or worded another way, what disease might my plant have?

I have something very similar, but only in plants grown in SWCs. Are yours in the ground or? Effected plants are always older (meaning mature with fruit) and also have yellowing of the lower leaves, but then as you describe. I look forward to hearing replies to your post.

I have a very similar problem, but after splitting several affected stems, I could not find the discoloration or laddering that seems to diagnose pith necrosis.

I concluded that my problem is early blight, or some related blight disease.

All of my plants are in the ground, and they are older plants (mature with fruit). At this point, I would say my plants are close to 8 to 9 ft. tall.

ScottInAtlanta might be on to something about early blight. My plants have been exposed to early blight, but these particular leaves just turn yellow (there are no spots on them). That is one reason I thought it might be something other than early blight.
