Seed from a BER?
I have a small hoy tomato that is nice and red ripe--except it has BER. Would the seed be OK? Its going to be a long time before I get any other fruit from the late plant and I don't want to risk not having any seed saved. I might replace it later on if I get a better tomato.

Ken, it is my understanding that BER is a physiological problem, so the seeds should be just fine.

I dont see why it wouldn't, BER is a symptom of nutrient deficiency (magnesium) not a disease.
Most likely caused by uneven watering, soil getting too dry. I figure you know this but I will say it anyway for the benefit of those who might not. Worth |

Are seeds from an over-ripe tomato also ok? One of my bagged fruits got away from me, was split and a bit yucky - I saved the seeds from the good part.
