Largest bunches of tomatoes

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a tomato variety known for setting the largest branches of tomatoes? I assume it would be a cherry type but was just wondering. Today while walking in my garden I noticed a branch on my Black Cherry tomato with more than 25 tomatoes set and would like to know if there is something that would make nice looking bunches when picked all together if that makes sense.

A little OT but maybe someone who sees this will know. I was reading a blog on the internet that mentioned a tomato from Afghanistan, "Rumi Banjan" that looks just lovely and I REALLY REALLY want to find seeds for it but haven't had any luck so far. Does anyone know of a source for these beauties??

I've counted close to 50 on a couple trusses on my sweet 100 plant.

I think you'll find the highest numers of fruits on a single stalk with those varieties that are called multiflora types and those would include Riesentraube, Ildi, Rose Quartz Multiflora and quite a few more.

Each stalk can have several hundreds of blossoms and is so beautiful you could break it off and put it in a vase. Of those hundreds of blossom not all set fruits and folks usually get maybe between 50-100 fruits off the one stalk and each plant has many such stalks.

I guess I should have thought that a hybrid variety would have the most as It is likely bred for production as much as taste. I've grown sweet 100 but never noticed trusses that big before.

That brings up another question for me as a tomato noob, do environmental conditions have any effect on flower truss formation in terms of number of flowers? I know temperature can effect fruit set, but what about the number of flowers? That seems like it's probably genetic.

Blonde Kopfchen (sp.) was amazing last year and I did pick branches for several bouquets. The plant was a monster and this year I am finding volunteers everywhere. piegirl

Still looking for those Rumi Banjan seeds if anyone has insight into a commercial source. I have searched all the seed sites I am familiar with.

Here is a non-cherry that sets bunches of fruit on a truss:



This was not the largest truss on the plant, I have a few more with more fruit set - I will need to take more pictures when this darn rain finally stops...
