commercial production of hybrid seed
There are businesses that among other things produce hybrid seed on contract for U.S. businesses. One of them is Genesis seed in Israel who produced the Ramapo seed that was recently made available. Here is a business in Costa Rica that produces hybrid seed on contract. I fed it through google translate so you can read it in english.
http://translate.google.com/translat...lantscr.com%2F the direct link is: http://www.villaplantscr.com/ Just tossing this out so you can take a look at the commercial side of seed production. This place has a good reputation for producing quality seed. DarJones |

And if you go back to the Ramapo thread you'll see that the recent Moreton Hybrid seed was produced in Costa Rica.
I also remember George Ball of Burpee telling me that when he still worked for the Ball Seed Co he spent a lot of time in Costa Rica b'c that's where the impatians seed trials and seed production were done.

Yes, re Moreton produced in Costa Rica and this is the place that produced them.
They are in the process of growing out the Ramapo seed now and should have them available sometime in March. DarJones |
