I find that surprising. The year I grew it, we had ridiculous amounts of rain, and some varieties had BER, but NOT my Green Zebra. It was very hardy, productive and flavor was good. ARGG had an even better flavor though. It may possibly be the best tasting variety I've ever tried, but that's hard to say for sure. There are a few on the top 5 or 10 list, and it is definitely one of them. I haven't grown Cherokee Green yet though. I do like Cherokee Purple a lot, better than any other black varieties I've tried.

Default Green when ripe

I loved, loved, loved Aunt Ruby's German Green last year. First time I had grown a green when ripe. It even convinced my mom that a great tomato doesn't have to be red. She has two ARGG in her garden this year.

I have ARGG again this year, plus I added Green Zebra. The Green Zebras are just starting to ripen, so I should get my first taste in the next few days. Next year, I'd love to try Green Giant, Cherokee Green and maybe Green Grape.

Annie, did you say you're growing a ARGG cherry this year? Can you tell me a little bit more about that one?

Thanks,
Amy

My 4 GZs, in addition of big time BERs, all died from wilt. They were doing great for a while.

Because others have had success with GZ and I like the look and taste of GZ, I will keep trying to grow it.

I've got ARGG and Green Zebra. Still waiting on both but think the Green Zebras will be ready to pick soon. I looking for the bit of yellow to come through on the shoulders.
