Tania, on Jan 22, 2012 new US postal rates go into effect. All are higher. I do know that there's a one cent increase for a first class stamp, and trying to read at the USPS website is not that easy to understand, at least for me. What that means is I have to inventory my stamps on hand b'c I don't know what the increase is to Canada, Europe or Asia. And I'm speaking here only about letters , in general, b'c I don't send large packages of seeds these days. especially to Europe, as I used to do. And then I'll call my local post office to get more exact information b/c I need to know b'c of my upcoming seed offer here where I volunteer to pay postage to those who participate who are outside of the US. So perhaps Linda has checked out what the increases are going to be starting on Jan 22 and has increased the shipping prices to reflect that. Just a guess on my part. Edited to add that as long as the TGS 2012 catalog has been shipped that has the new prices, and same for the website, those prices would take effect now, not on Jan 22nd. In other words the prices have been made public in advance. That's the way I see it.

I understand the annual postal rate increases, in Canada they increase the stamps prices by 3 to 10 cents every year... but $12 shipping for a packet of seeds still hurt... So I did not order. Well, I thought I could live without another variety in my seed collection! I guess if I was ordering 20+ packets, I could see $12 for shipping. That's just me, being a TGS customer for the last 5 years... I am sure other folks are less stingy on the shipping charges On the other hand, many US seed companies have been charging something around that price for shipping already, so I think Linda was just following the other large seed companies, which is fair. Having said that, I just ordered from Baker Creek, and their S&H charge was more than reasonable, $4.

I think Sandhill is even lower than Baker Creek, but didn't check and won't know until I get my 2012 catalog which is at the printer now, but it all comes down to which specific varieties you're looking for. US postal rates don't go up every year as do the Canadian ones, so this is the first major change in several years.

All to say that I'll be listing Wes in my upcoming seed offer along with many others. Two years ago I sent seeds to a husband and wife who have a CSA in S Cal, and she sent me a check, which I refused, but then relented after she insisted. I said that seeds back from some of them would be fine. So Wes and three others she sent seeds to me for, I know Chapman is one and another Cherokee Green, can't remember the 4th one now, will all be under tht title of DONATED SEEDS. No, I don't send out a lot of seeds, but enough so that folks can get plants and then save their own seeds. I'll be glad to get the TGS 2012 catalog b;c I know there are quite a few that are supposed to be there from seeds I sent to Linda for trial, and Green Zebra Cherry is just one of them and I'd like to see what she wrote about them.

In my mind I could see this coin envelope with Wes printed on it in sharpie. I just knew I had that thing in a seed box so I looked. Started going through 1.000s of seeds and right at the end there it was. A coin envelope just as I visioned it, it was from Suze and it was marked "Wes old seed". My heart started pounding as I opened it and to my dismay it was empty. So yes I will send the envelope to you tomorrow. I feel like a fool as I must have eaten about 10 Wes tomatoes I got from Suze last year but I am sort of like a grasshopper ate the tomatoes but forgot to save seeds. I just finished planting seeds but just maybe they will be in before I leave for work and if not there is next month. Worth Worth |

If you soak them first you may get some up, your choice, but why don't you just PM me with your address today and I'll take a look today and if I still have them you can try them. And if not I can send you fresh 2011 seeds of Fish Lake Oxheart, which I think is excellent. Or I can send you both. This in exchange for "you know what" b/c my seed offer won't be up for a week or so and I am NOT ready for that yet b/c I still have to inventory and organize the seeds, then do the WORD doc and all that fun.
