I know this is a very old thread, but what became of this? Was the grow out done?

I did a search for Rhoades Heirloom since I bought the seeds recently. Apparently
it's Old German, which I haven't grown either. I'm guessing the grow outs
weren't done since there are no follow ups.

I've grown both, side by side, not knowing at the time they were 'supposed' to be the same. To me, they were different in many aspects:
- productivity: Old German produces far more fruits per plant
- earliness: Rhoades Heirloom was two weeks earlier to ripen
- taste: Old German is tastier, sweeter with a fruity note, RH is more bland
- fruit size: Old German has larger fruits
- appearance:
Old German is colored red only on the lower third of the fruie, the yellow outside color is paler. On the inside it only has yellow and red
Rhoades Heirloom gets two thirds colored red, the yellow is a deeper warmer shade. On the inside, it has yellow, red and white marbling.

Here are some pics...

I have grown Old German 2 times and only got one tomato from the last one I grew.
I was one of the best tasting tomatoes I have ever had.

I've grown Old German more than once. Got about a 18 from a plant in a 20 gal container this year...that container sat and baked on the asphalt driveway for most of the summer. Yummmmy. I'd grow it again

Zana, did you perhaps save any seeds from that Old German plant? I'm planning for a big bicolor growout next year and I'm trying to get the best 'strains' of each variety, so I'm collecting seed samples from more pepole of the same variety and Old german is on the list too. I'd love to trade for some seeds of your Old German as it sounds like a winner, I have more than 100 tomato vareties...
