Baking soda comes to mind with a little dish soap for surfactant.

For tree resins, I try rubbing alcohol first. It worked great at working deodar cedar sap out of the dog's fur so that I could brush her instead of letting the sap form the nucleus of a megatangle. Alcohol should also help dissolve chipper/shredder stains.
For anything gluey, the first solvent I try is vegetable oil. For green plant sap, soap usually works for me. I'd like to find a solvent for the white sap of vinca. I trimmed some back for a neighbor and got black spots all over my gloves (lycra & supplex) that don't wash out. |

Gojo pumice hand soap is pretty effective, similar to lava soap. Squeeze lemon juice on your hands first and let it sit for a minute or 2. Than use the gojo.
Works great for fish oil and smell if you happen to be cutting fish.... Vinegar also works, but lemon smells better. I also use Grease monkey vinyl or latex disposable gloves. (HD) Don't always remember to put them on though, and they can interfere with detail finger work. Quote - Even better is to use a very ripe tomato and squish it around in both hands - I read that you can use a green tomato to do this as well. Might be a use for greens with BER.... |
