Well if this plant lives it will be the most determined tomato plant ever. Something pushed in the fence and got into the garden, and dug that plant up. Only that one. Bizarre. Probably my idiot dog. Why? I have no idea. It was lying there under a pile of dirt, all shriveled up. I stuck it back in the dirt, but I doubt it. Sigh.

What kind of a bug is that?
Looks like it is out of a sci-fi movie or a kid's cartoon!

Haven't seen one of those before.

I'm told he is a weevil. He's pretty cool. I hadn't seen one before either, and was a bit startled to find him on my skirt, but he seemed fairly friendly. Funny, after I took photos, set him on the coffee table, and took some more pictures, I was so busy admiring the photos that I lost the bug. But he must like me, because the next day I was sitting on the couch and here he came - crawling up my skirt again. That time, he got sent outside to play.

OK, if we're playing "bug ID" here's a cute little guy that I found sitting ON my camera in the living room (hmm no one will ever want to visit me, they will all think I am infested). But he's really cool

I forgot what he is. Some sort of nymph someone said, I think? But he was little and cute, and very cooperative about posing for the camera (after I moved him off the top of it). He got sent outside to play too.

I think that's a nymph of Zelus luridus, a kind of assassin bug. They are predators and are good bugs to have around. Yours is probably chowing down on leaf miners and other small pests now.

Since catching the tomato growing fever a few years back I have been studying up on my bugs.....that guy definitely looked like an assassin to me.
Thanks for the images!

Thanks bcday.
Brian, I will not be trading you bugs! Mine are nice and gentle and do NOT sting.
I also have a daddy long legs convention in my gazebo - one day I counted about 30 of the things - they aren't quite as fun to photograph though.

Yes siree - I have tons of DLLs. They always scare me when they pop up from the bottoms of a plant I'm watering but I leave them be.

tam91 - that nymph looks like it should be in one of those KungFu Panda movies! Like - KungFu Nymph or something.

Only "cool" thing I've seen thus far outside on one of my hibiscuses (hibiscii?) - was this really long, slender neon blue thing. I got several pics of him but not sure you can see it really well so I didn't post it. Guess it was a type of dragon fly. Here's someone elses (really good) Youtube video of one...this is what I saw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF8Z0wx3cHg
