Default Laverton

Avariety Tom left here last fall. It was a round, maroon colored spud with deep yellow eyes. I really enjoyed them roasted. Here are some photos from this year.

LAVERTON.... a variety out of Skagit Valley Gold...I don't know the male parent...is a unique potato that needs some detailed description so that I offer the TPS from it for next year.

I have lots of true seed of it but could not find my description for it for the current year's listing. I hope Wingnut gives me an update on the flavor and other culinary aspects of it. Beings it is a diploid...all the TPS will be hybridized either by controlled crosses or in a hybrid swarm. I gave it the name Laverton for the lavender color of the tubers...not the color of the flowers...but they are pretty....aren't they?

Lucky me! Wingnut sent me one tuber of Laverton among some others. I have it in bloom also and will make sure to make a full report on flavor.

I sent Laverton out to 11 folks last year (2001) as a single tuber. I need to get those folks on Tville and report back to me. I typed in the word 'Laverton' into my search page and Presto! Came up on word documents that were printed out to each of the customers.
