Default Pest or other problem?

This is my first season growing tomatoes and I would love it if someone could help with the pictures below.

I pulled my first Black Cherry tomato this morning with the goal of tasting it to see how long to let the rest of them go before picking. When I did so, I discovered a dried out hole near the stem.

I'm not sure if it is a pest, or just a natural deformity...

Thanks in advance for your help!

Travelscribe, welcome to the forum!

That is a healed-over wound made by either a worm or snail/slug. My guess is small hornworm, and there are several threads here at T'Ville about hornworms and how to id/control them:

Good luck!

Yes, welcome to the best site on the web.

I would add that it also could be a healed over bird peck. The good news is that the other side of that tomato is edible.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, Another hole (actually 2) have popped up on a tomato on a nearby plant. I'll be spraying BT as soon as it stops raining...

Thanks,
