Round Zucchini
Anyone else grow these? I grew them this year, it was a happy accident. I got a few plants from a friend who told me they were straight zucchini. We were both surprised. They are excellent for stuffing.
I'm just experiment with recipes for them now, I tried this one today: http://www.food.com/recipe/balsamic-...ucchini-130437 |

These are called Ronde de Nice and I just harvested the last of them. Absolutely delicious used when baseball-sized just like the straight zukes. Only downside was they were quite susceptible to SVB.

I am growing them too..2nd yr in a row. Got them in a summer squash mix from Gourmet Seed. I let mine get a little bigger than baseball size, though it has that pumpkin shape similar to the picture in the recipe. Very good tasting, will have to try the recipe. Thanks!

Got my seeds from Artistic Gardens as a sample packet for $.40. They also sell a larger amount for $1.05. Highly recommended & no, I have no affiliation with them- just a happy customer.

I'm fighting the squash bugs this year... big time! Right now, I think I'm winning. We have one of these "8-ball" plants growing with several 1" diameter or so on it. Another week, perhaps less. I love the idea of stuffing them!

Bulam073112.jpgI planted the Bulam squash which looks similar. They are good salted and fried in batter. Got the seeds from Kitazawa's.

Hi Jennifer:
I'm in Honolulu. If you looked up at the mountains from your condo, I live on one of the hills. Hope you try the Bulam, they grow fast. Plant several in sunny locations, since not all will bear female flowers. HiPoha |
