Paul Robeson
Are Paul Robeson usually a very soft fruit? As they turn red from the bottom, they start softening. By the time they are green on top and red half way around, the red part already feels slightly mushy. If I let them go to 3/4 red, they are a little softer than I even want to eat. At that point the tops are still really green. Is that normal for Robeson?
This is my first year growing Robeson. With the crazy summer we've had, I'm not sure if it is normal for the variety or has something to do with the crazy summer we've had. All of my other toms have been fine since I keep up on the watering. |

I wouldn't say Paul Robeson was red. I grew it here in Australia, and apart from the toms being smaller than what I have seen, it did great. It did go mushy early, like most blacks , but that is par for the course! We had a hot sumer here and most of my fruit got sun scald !

You must eat it asap , and Yes its ready when the bottom is soft, the top will get dark never orange or red like the rest of the fruit. These are my Favorite by far i just posted a picture here of my bigger one 1.1 lbs, enjoy.

Oh man, I've been missing out all summer! I kept waiting around for color and ended up wasting a ton of fruit.
