Aunt Ruby's German Green
OMG! I just ate my second ripe ARGG of the year. This is my third year growing it and still, when I have my first one of the year, I just about melt because the flavor is so darned good! There isn't a thing I don't like about it!
I know many of you are familiar with this one but for those who aren't, they are a large green when ripe slicer with just a hint of yellow orange tint on the blossom end when ripe, meaty and juicy with a tangy yet sweet taste. I always expect it to be a bit later than it is for me but the first ripe one was about a 4 days ago so from the time I planted it in ground it was ripe in about 60 days! It is earlier than a over half of my 40+ tomato plants. This one will always have room in my garden. Another couple of varieties that have this effect on my are Paul Robeson and Orlov Yellow. Unfortunately, I didn't get any Orlov Yellow's planted this year because I had a major seedling mishap earlier in the year. Which ones are YOUR drop dead must plant varieties and why? |

I sold a few of those as seedlings, but the deer ate the ones I planted, so I'm going to try again next year.
I'm a brandwine fan. I want to try growing several different strains next year and see what I like the best. |

I had this when I first tried Emerald cherry this year. OMG! It has a real Aunt Ruby's German Green flavor in such a small fruit, and it is way earlier. I fell in love instantly.
Orlov Yellow, Aunt Gertie's Gold, and ARGG all have the same effect on me Tatiana

Green Zebra, ARGG, AGG, PR, and Carbon are my current ones, and now I'll have to try Emerald Cherry. I have yet to find a green cherry I like.

I am also thrilled with my Aunt Ruby's German Green -- that tomatoes consistently taste wonderful! I also love to include one in baskets of tomatoes that I gift to friends and family, folks are always surprised to eat a delicious ripe-when-green tomato.
