Sunstream F2?
I had not seen this tomato previously but was extremely impressed by spannerwiz's pictures in this thread in the Photo Forum here: http://www.tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=21365 Th 19th picture in particular is ridiculous! I counted esily over 50 tomatoes in those clusters. I checked on Tania's website and Sunstream was not listed (possibly because it may be a hybrid?). Wondering if anyone else has any information on this tomato (i.e. - origin, availability, hybrid?, leaf type - looks PL as best I can tell?, DTM, etc...flavor?) Looks like a great plant!! Thanks!

Hi Carolyn,
Thanks for the reply as always! I normally would have asked but I believe the individual was from England. I was kind of hoping there was someone domesticlly that had some experience and a possible seed source here in the US. I saw the stuff on Amazon but that isn't always my favorite way to buy stuff due to some bad experiences in the past. I was hoping someone was going to chime in with someone like Gleckler or TGS, etc.. as a source? You should take a look at the pictures - it is a beautiful tomato plant :-) Mark |

If it is an F2 then it is not a stabilized variety yet. I would imagine this is the name the grower gave to it and it could be up to 6 more seasons from the post till it would be stablized as an open pollinated variety.
You are correct though, looks like PL and is setting a very large amount of fruit.

Sunstream is a relatively new F1 hybrid introduced by Enza Zaden of the Netherlands. It is a blocky mini plum that is popular as a premium supermarket tomato in the UK, often packaged on the vine. It actually has a very good flavour, and is one of the few varieties I will buy when home grown toms are not in season.
Have never tried growing out the F2 seeds, but looking at spannerwiz's pictures I may try in the future. http://www.enzazaden.co.uk/Products/...sunstream.aspx |

If you're from Europe, you can order the seeds from Lindbloms in Sweden. Highly recommend them, very easy plant to grow, very disease resistant. My plants were planted on May 19th, and they now stand 2m tall! Slightly larger than Tomatoberry, similar shape, but way more productive.

These are my Sunstream tomatoes this year, from seeds I got a friend to buy for me from Lindbloms's. Plants are about 9+ feet right now, out of 144 plants, get about 40 pounds of tomatoes a day. I wonder how much different the F2's are from my F1's?
