Default Blue Green Zebra

Tom asked if he could call this one the Blue Green Zebra, which I was tickled to say yes to. Seeds are drying now and will go out to Tom soon, along with a couple of others of his that I'm sending back.

Before the frost finishes my season I packed a box with some of these and a few others and sent them off for a national magazine photo shoot. They're planning an article next spring about the innovative new tomato varieties coming that should be available to home gardeners. It would be very cool to see some of my tomatoes pictured, so I hope the paper and bubble wrap protect them in transit!

I feel like I used up all my luck finding that one, no point in buying lottery tickets now.

I was shocked when I talked to the editor and they were having problems getting some of the boutique tomato folks to get involved, one had said they were just too busy. For the chance to get your company and product in front of millions of potential customers I think I would find the time to package some tomatoes and drop them with FedEx. I did it for Tom and I've got nothing to gain besides perhaps seeing my tomatoes in the magazine.

Gorgeous!!! We tomato lovers are very lucky to have Tom's varieties to put some big excitement in our gardens. I grew 4 plants of his Shadow Boxing, they were all different. Some were plum saladettes red with yellow striping, pointed on the ends. Some were med. sized no points. One plant had large saladettes with antho shoulders. I took some photos and will post them when time allows, the husband has to help with that one. I'm saving seeds from all of them and hope New World Seeds lives long and prospers!!! Lovely Blue Green Zebra, congrats.

I agree, and this publicity should do a lot for Tom and Rob. I know Tom is talking to an operation in the southern hemisphere about doing a large growout for seed this winter so he has a good inventory when the article hits.

Sounds like your Shadow Boxing experience was similar to my Green Lantern Lights, I had 4 plants of that and all had different fruit types.

I believe it was from one Tom simply called Blue Green that he found in 2009. The original version had no stripes. If it is, this is one of the extra plants that Granite26 sent me that he grew from a package of bonus seed Tom included with an order.

Unfortunately I can't be 100% sure, as it was planted next to a Muddy Waters plant and the labels for both were bleached out. The plant next to it seems to me to pretty clearly be from the Muddy Waters line though.

Got the second ripe fruit to harvest for seeds today and took a picture of the inside before plunking the seeds in a plastic cup to ferment.

Taste is very nice by my standards, I can tell Green Zebra is in the pedigree.
