Hi everyone,
I pulled out two tomato plants today, to make room for the winter garden. I never thought I'd pull a plant out before frost, but my Rutgers was very disappointing as was my BW Suddoth. The rest of the tomatoes can stay another month but then I'll be shutting them down in time to put in lettuces.

I want to put in a huge plug for Tomato Tone - holy cow that stuff is good. My plants got early blight, and then mid-summer blight. I was able to stop the blight using Plant Wash - a very cool product, but the plants were really sickly looking. the tomato tone really turned them around. I only bought a small bag this year but next year, I am getting a big ol' bag.

Best tomato production for me (in order)
Mexico Midget - what a great tomato
Bloody Butcher
Sun Gold
Green Grape

Ones I won't mess with again:
Better Boy - It was really Disappointing Boy
Silvery Fir Tree - love those tomatoes but it just doesn't produce a lot.
Riesentrobe - did not like the tomatoes, though my Labrador certainly did.

I look forward to being back on the forums more as the weather cools and the garden tasks diminish.

My main garden work now is watching for ripe fruit and waiting for frost to shut the garden down. And then I'll get ready for my winter crop ..... snow.
