Does anyone know the real history and size of this tomato? Victory Seeds lists its size as 5 - 10 oz., and Tomatofest and Territorial list it around 1 lb. I checked Tania's tomatobase, but there isn't enough information to make a determination as to the correct size of this tomato.

I traded some Zapotec seeds to someone, and they wanted to know if Zapotec and Pink Accordion are the same tomato. In some instances, they look the same to me. However, if Victory Seeds information is correct, then they are clearly different.

Can anyone clarify the information on Pink Accordion?

Mark, you asked about Pink Accordian recently and I just didn't have time to answer. I tried to find where it came from,but no luck at all. And Ihave no time to go to Victory Seeds to see how the two differ b'c I'm trying to keep up with my seed offer. So what does Mike say that leads you to assume they are different?

Since Zapotec has been known for a couple of decades and PA much more recently I doubt they are the same, although unlessI grew them side by side I wouldn't know for sure.

Both are described as hollow stuffers, and since I'm not interested in those, I had no interest in growing either one.

In the 2012 SSE YEarbook Bill Minkey says 8-12 oz pink ruffled ribbed accordian-like shape, resembles Pink Zapotec, sweet,mild,semi-hollow,his source was Baker Creek.

Or is this yet another situation where someone changed the name of Zapotec to up sales and say that it is unique? I don't know.

There are only 3 entries for it in the 2012 Yearbook but the one person indicates the source as being an SSE member in 2002. I attempted to get that Yearbook from the two piles next to me on the floor and only ended up with both piles falling apart and right now I have no time to repile and research.

Perhaps someone here with the 2002 Yearbook can do it quicker than me.


Edited to add that I just read more carefully about VS and the others and for sure I wouldn't make any decision based on the size of fruits, I think for all the reasons we both know.

Given the limited information, I was kind of comparing the shape and size of the different tomatoes, but that information is also inconsistent.

I guess there just isn't enough information to draw any conclusions.
