Sweetie (the beefsteak)
I'm hoping to get feedback from anyone who's grown this one from Sandhill about fruit size, shape, seeds, skin thickness, taste, etc. It piqued my interest a couple years ago and it hasn't been available recently- I also haven't seen it on many grow lists.
Thanks! kath |

Hi Kath,
I grew Sweetie a few years back with seed from Sandhill. It was early for a large tomato, and was very productive too. The taste as you would expect from the name is more sweet and mild like many pink tomatoes. If I remember correctly it was meaty inside and kind of a variable ruffled/ribbed beefsteak shape outside. In the early pink beefsteak category I preferred Large Pink Bulgarian personally.

Thanks, barkeater- appreciate your feedback. I tried LPB twice and it was ok but have preferred others like Sandul Moldovan and Terhune to it.

The only way to find out, is by trying it.
For me, it was no earlier than Prudence? (Prudens?) Purple. Sweetie was sweet, but not "rich" (full-flavored). Tormato |
