How do these compare ?

Thessaloniki ,Sioux Druzba and Old Brooks ? I am wondering if they are so close as to be redundant. And how they have turned out for any of you in taste, production etc.

Somebody here posted Old Brooks is almost as tart as Silvery Fir Tree, which suits me just fine. I have it growing now. I have grown both Druzba and Siux. Both pack a good punch, Druzba grows fairly stocky, the taste seems a little less in your face acid to me, more mellow than Siux. Maybe more balanced is a better way to desribe it. I am regrowing Siux this year but not Druzba, which is a very good tomato but us tomato addicts have to make hard choices sometimes.

I grew thessolonki last year in the fall but only got a few because Fall never stopped being 100! I liked it enough to grow agian this year under, hopefully more favorable conditions.

Of those 4, I've grown only Druzba and Thessaloniki, in different years. I liked Druzba a lot (and I don't like "in your face acid" tomatoes at all) the 2 years I grew it. I tried Thessaloniki last year and it was ok, but smaller and not as good as (my memory of) Druzba. But one good thing about Thessaloniki was that if you do like more-tart tomatoes, you could eat it a bit underripe; if you like a more balanced flavor, eat it ripe. Good flavor either way, though I preferred the balanced flavor.

Both varieties had moderate production.

Thank you very much for your input Linda. Looks like you have already been where I am heading in my search for strong tomato flavor.

I was looking to thin my grow list and you have helped me in that. I will order Thessaloniki and Sioux seed. As for Old Brooks ? I'll wait and see what you think of it. That is if that is alright with you.

Habitat_Gardener, Well, I had about made up my mind to drop Druzba for another year but I believe you may have changed my mind.

Here is my grow list for this year. I had hoped to drop a few as this is getting over my head. Seems like so much to keep up with and yet it is nothing compared to most of the lists I have seen here !

As you can see, I will be growing some of everything send to me by members. But I will have to limit numbers on most to 2 or 4 plants per each.

I wanted to try and keep the numbers down to 2 - 100 foot rows of indeterminates.
