Something is chewing on my young tomatoes?
I'm a first time gardener so I am not very knowledgeable about it, but I have this black krim tomato plant on a self watering container that is on my deck which is about 10 feet off the ground. As I was pruning it this afternoon, I noticed that two of my young fruit have a hole on their lower half, almost like something is chewing through it. This plant is kind of bushy and some of the leaves does touch the railings of my wooden deck (I've seen black ants sometimes but not very often crawl on the rails). I looked around and I don't see any worms. Can anyone tell me what this could be? Should I get ride of those that have holes in them? What can I do to prevent more of this? My other 3 plants seems to be fine (cross my fingers).
Here's another shot: |

Maybe a bird peck? Just a guess.

I did some research and thought it was tomato fruitworm. I pulled out the tomato and cracked it open with a knife, I didn't see any worms and there were no sign of eggs on my leaves (or holes). I guess a bird peck could be a reasonable explanation. It could also explain why I have some scratch like bruises on some of my tomatoes.

Look very early in the morning for the worms, use a flashlight to help them show up. The plants look great, nice work. Marsha |
