Is this a Sun Cherry plant?
I was given some Sun Cherry seeds, (Thompson and Morgan 6 seeds for $5) none that I tried came up. I decided to put it outside and see what would happen. Well I think one finally came up but am not exactly sure. It does not look like any tomato I have seen at this stage. It could be some sort of weed seed in the soil but it really looks like a tomato. Maybe some sort of weird cross pollinated seed in the soil I used. I do not know.
Has anyone grown a Sun Cherry and would be able to identify it at this stage? Or at least confirm it being a tomato and explain why it looks as it does. Thanks |

It definitely looks like a tomato. Unless you've got a tomato weed problem, I think you're good.

Six seeds for five bucks?
I've grown Sun Cherries and was impressed with them for taste and productivity. Hard to confirm what your seedlings are though but yes, they are definitely tomatoes.

6 seeds for $5?
If you or anyone else decides to grow them again, TGS carries them. http://www.tomatogrowers.com/SUN-CHE...ductinfo/5713/ Remy

Thanks for confirming it as a tomato. Yeah, 6 for $5, not what I would have paid, but it was a gift. Thanks for the link to TGS.
Still can't understand why it looks as it does though. Has anyone seen anything similar before? I guess I will have to find a container for it and see what happens. |

I've never grown Sun Cherry, but the leaves look ok to me. They're not quite as serrated as you might have been expecting, but even cherries can vary as to their leaf form and not all look alike. Let us know how they do!

I didn't even register that the leaves looked unusual and I still don't. Some of my seedlings' first leaves look just like this. Others have a smaller main leaflet and larger secondary leaflets. Later leaves tend to be more consistent in look, in my experience.

I grew suncherry from T&M, I think I paid $6.99 for a seed pack. It is definately worth growing. It claims to be Sungold's little sister. Very productive, great taste, bigger than Sungold. So it is nice to pair it with Sungold to get different colored cherries. I am growing two plants this year.

It just unlike what I am used to, but now I know that this is possible. I transplanted it today so we will seed. I hope it is a Sun Cherry as they sound worth it.
Thanks all |

I'm growing it now but never heard it before. It's starting to ripen so I'm looking forward to trying it.

Another fan here, I think Sun Cherry are an excellent variety, as already said "very productive, taste great" and a lovely sweet taste with a good flavour.
Not much help now but when your transplant has grown a bit, a picture of part of a leaf. |

Does the Sun Cherry plant get as big as Sungold? I'm growing Sungold for the first time this year; love the taste but the plant grew so fast and got so big it's almost too much to deal with.
Thanks Irv |
