Late blight has been confirmed in Erie and Madison Counties in New York, and in Franklin County in Massachusetts.

Oh no...
OK, I'm starting to get paranoid. I just examined my plants and on my Black Krim, there are some leaves that rather than being cupped (as seems to be common with this variety) are raised in the center. Hadn't seen this before. It also looks like there's a slight touch of darkening going on, but it's so subtle I'm feeling like it's way too early to tell if it's anything to worry about.

Thanks BCDay! The pictures I was comparing mine to were actually Early Blight. That's what it looks like on most of the plants.
But, upon inspection, there are four with leaves that do look like Late Blight. No yellow, just that horrible gray wilty look. I swear, there are at least three different diseases on my plants! (I'm pretty sure that one is Fusarium. It looks like the same one I had last year) I need to post pictures, just to make sure I'm not insane. |

I'm going to be making a separate post about this but I'm very interested in the Iron Lady tomato from High Mowing Seeds.

I am in Central CT and it has rained for a period daily for like the last 4-5 weeks, before the current heat wave kicked in. I did not spray because it seemed pointless.
On Monday I had to pull 3 plants due to late blight infection. I wasnt sure if it was a mold at first. The next day I saw the characteristic black spotting on the green fruits. I think the heat and associated dryness halted the spread. We'll see. |
