Let there be (more) light.
There are many big trees on my property. This makes it difficult to grow tomatoes well. It will costs lots of money to get someone to cut down some of the branches in many areas. Because of the danger, it is out of the question to do it myself climbing the very tall trees.
I have found a very useful tool to do the job easily, cheaply and without danger: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...70_12415_12415 The only thing you need to figure out is how to get the tool up to the exact branch you want to cut off. For that I use a small crossbow to shoot a fish line up as a dragline. I have cut off many thick branches higher then 60 feet. Now is the time to get the job done before the next growing season. I wish there would be a forum (Tools. Tips, & Techniques?) for ideas like this. A few days later this idea will be buried forever. Who knows how many good ideas are buried in the 37,000 posts here. dcarch

Thank you so much for posting this dcarch. We've got a HUGE old maple that DH has risked life and limb to bring partially down (the rest has left us stymied......or just scared silly).
