So every caterpillar in MY garden is a potential butterfly.

I will definitely be reporting back on the micros -- I have Red Robin going as well, it's just the start of our fall season here! Loving this thread, I just love the smaller plants!

I usually use Miracle Grow Potting Mix (never tried the soil), and I've been experimenting with other mixes this year. Home Depot and Lowe's carry all the ingredients -- peat, perlite, vermiculite. Or you could always order a bag of ProMix online, but that gets pricey.
Oh my! I've always wanted to see a Death's Head Hawk Moth, but apparently they are native to Africa and migrate to Europe to feed on potato leaves. Guess I'll never see a live one here in N.A.

Maybe you need to turn off your lights inside when you open the door, so as not to attract giant bat-sized moths inside. Hubby always screams at me to do that when I take a dog out to potty as he thinks the mosquitoes are getting in - imagine!

We have Home Depot and Lowe's down south. I never thought to check them for perlite and vermiculite. I checked a few nurseries here in ON and either they don't carry them or it was too late in the season by the time I needed more potting mix.

Hubby bought me a big bag of Pro Mix with "water retaining granules" which they say are not good for growing tomatoes. I'll just have to use that for my little seedlings and hope that it's ok for short-term use before transplanting them outside.

Red Robin and Yellow Canary did very well for me in small pots. Robust little plants gave me lots of little cherry tomatoes with which I was thrilled - although it was a very long wait!

Oh, I haven't tried Yellow Canary! Will look it up!

The ones here are "Black Witch Moths". They look eerie when they smash against a window trying to get in!

Does anyone grow beefsteak tomatoes that would be 3-5 feet tall and with good production and taste?

Yes.

Summertime Gold would be considered to fall into those categories.
Also, lot's of the Dwarf Project releases fall into these categories.

As well, I'm working on a Dwarf version of Cuostralee... right
now it's the Brawny Dwarf project line.

What line is Rosella Purple? I thought it odd that it didn't show up on the Dwarf Forums. I didn't realize that they all had different "lines".

Thanks,
Linda
