FWIW, my original seeds came from Remy, and are apparenlty true Sophie's Choice. The seeds I've been using since were saved from those first tomatoes.
Also, I should add that I don't leave in direct sun all day here after the high temps are hitting much over 100. I use shadecloth (cheap stuff from Harbor Freight) over the part of my garden that has included Sophie. Last edited by flyingbrass; January 29, 2014 at 10:52 PM. |

in 2013, all my gardens went to pot since I took a new job in June 2013 and had no time for anything (still don't). However, the Sophie's Choice did fabulously well in a pot. I watered it a lot early on as Carolyn's book says, and it kept pumping out tomatoes all summer in spite of the *#&$#*@ groundogs who ate almost everything else. While I won't have nearly the garden I did in previous years, I'm going to make sure Sophie's Choice is back, with 2 plants this summer. My original seeds came from Remy.

Welcome back! Missed your posts and wondered where you'd gone. Hope you have better luck and more time to garden this summer. If and when summer ever comes!

I hope that whoever shared seeds in the Mystery Mailing had the right, short, variety of Sophie's Choice as I'm planning to grow them in pots this spring .

"Pink labeled" Sophie's Choice were mine, true to type (but unbagged). There were a few others also donating SC to the swap. Gary |

Thanks Gary. Good to know - for some! I just checked and mine was a clear baggie, labelled on one side with a black marker and the other side had a typed white label.

It's about time I sorted through all of the send in/wish lists and file them away for many months. But first, I'll see if I can locate who donated your SC.

Oh no Gary! Please don't go to all that trouble! I was hoping that the donor might comment, but it doesn't matter. I will find out eventually.......
Thanks, Linda |

That would be me. Original seed from Tomatofest - but very true to type. The plants never exceeded 30". Like Gary I did not bag blossoms.
