Barry, I just answered your other new thread and spoke to the issues of heat and humidity.Summary? You are not alone, just look to some nearby states.

I can't speak to your first pairing since I've not grown the Cowlick one.

Spudakee is one of several PL variants of CP which is RL

Several folks have grown out the several PL variants of CP, also growing CP at the same time for comparison.

Some say the PL variants are the same as CP and some say one or the other of the PL variants is different, but really I think they differ only with respect to Leaf form, just as KBX is the PL variant of Kellogg's Breakfast (RL) and most see the two as the same but some don't.

I can speak only for the Brandywine/Cowlick's Brandywine question. In my experience there really is no apparent difference to me. Same growth as far as leaf type and height. Same taste, same shaped fruit. I can only report that in the 2 years that I planted them together, that MY Brandywine seeds gave me 1-2 more fruit than did the Cowlick's. This was not a true side by side comparison because the Brandywine seed was direct sowed outdoors and Cowlick's was started indoors. In the years that they were grown we had very warm spring temperatures and the direct sowed seed was far ahead of the indoor sown plant at the time of plant out. Most likely due to the direct sun vs. indoor lights.
