Li Jujube
The Jujube (Ziziphus jujuba) is a fruiting plant native to China and a relative of the California native plant Ceanothus. It bears fruits that vary from the size of an Olive to double that size in width and length depending on cultivar. When ripe, the fruits have a flavor very similar to apples but drier in texture.
Here's a picture of my Jujube "Li" in full bloom.

Lovely plant - thanks for the opportunity to view it. I started some from seed a few years ago as I read they were fairly cold hardy and had excellent health properties. Alas, they were overcome by a very bad winter even though I had sheltered them as best I could.

Like most edible fruits, it is healthy for you when eaten fresh and unadulterated. And like many lesser-known fruits, the health benefits are a bit overblown by marketeers. Eating a variety of healthful fruits throughout the year is a good choice.
