Which disease do I have?
This is on an Olena Ukranium. All other plants surrounding it are fine so far. It is on only the newest leaves but on almost all of them. There has been no overhead watering and that is a new wimpy cage I bought when I ran short on my regulars.

Thanks for your responses. I have moved it to the correct forum and my English teacher is whacking me over the head.

Yep. A little bit of botrytis.
I've not found a good treatment for it, and in 2 of the 3 years I grew Black Cherry, it suffered from it while surrounding plants were healthy. Just pick off diseased foliage.

Certainly looks like the grey mold I had last year. I got it when we had a few week of really rainy/humid weather and the foliage never really got a chance to dry out. I went with the diluted bleach solution that has been discussed here a few times. It seemed to work for me but YMMV.
(side note: make sure you are using regular not concentrated bleach with the dilution rates given or you could burn your plants!)

That well could be mold, though more photographic evidence would be helpful.
Search for bleach spray and you will find a several threads where Bill talks about using a diluted spray of bleach and water on mold. It will kill all leaves already infected, which is far more than those you can see. Still, it is the only things I've found that will actually kill off this mold once it is established. A couple of pointers, be sure to find the threads that discuss the recommended dilution rate for the newer more concentrated bleaches being sold now. Also, if you take this measure of last resort, do it early in the morning or late in the evening so that no sun is shining on the leaves while they are wet with bleach/water spray. Obviously, the preference is to keep mold from ever establishing and there are a host of tools that will help with that. Sometimes, it can't be avoided and once you have it though, my experience has been its best to go nuclear on it with bleach sooner rather than later as it will spread fairly quickly under the right circumstances. If it is prevalent, then the bleach spray will kill most all of the affected foliage. Dewayne mater |
