Hight heat versus Sunlight- North Texas

feldon30 - I agree, much appreciated the last few 'cooler'days - especially the mornings working in the garden.

I find the hot and humid days quite oppressive but having grown up in Upstate NY - I'll take the hot/humid summers over the very long/snowy/cold/dark winters.

Very grateful for air conditioning.

I live in Oklahoma and it was 93 degrees and windy here today. I use shade cloth and will put it up when the temperatures are consistently in the mid 90's. I hope near the end of June. I use Aluminet shade cloth that blocks 40%. This works well for me.

I think you should be fine with the 8-1 timing. Mine have been growing really well with 6 hours of sunlight and I am located east of you in Louisiana.
