Default Pepper Surprise!

I've been anticipating the taste of my Trinidad Perfume peppers. I've suspected they would have a Habanero pepper flavor without the heat. A few peppers finally ripened to a bright yellow color and I ate one. I wasn't expecting the almost tart, lemony flavor it contained. It did have a normal sweet pepper after taste after the slightly tart flavor faded away. I will try a few more to make sure I wasn't imagining the tart flavor.
