What is this pepper?
These were labeled as Sweet Banana peppers but they are hot as all bejeezus.
They turn a dark purple if left on the plant long enough Anyone know what they are? |

I see corking, so they're probably purple jalapenos. Green to purple to ripe red. And yes, they're nice and hot.

I think its a cross between a jalapeno and the banana pepper.
It corks like a jalapeno but isn't shaped like one, too pointy and the walls are uneven. Where did the seeds come from? |

Happens all of the time. I looked up purple jalapeno and they dont look the same. Many peppers will get this very dark purple before they turn red. At first glance I thought they may be Guajillo peppers. They are right around the same hotness as the jalapeno just a little less. But the corking I have never seen on anything but Jalapenos but thats not to say it cant happen. It is caused by the pepper growing faster the the skin so it cracks and then heals. I saw your Jalapenos had corking. Worth |
