Default Info/opinions on MagiQo and Grosse Cotelee

I have seeds for these varieties, and was considering growing it. However, before I give them a spot, I was trying to find more info/opinions from those of you who may have grown them. Thanks in advance.

I grew Grosse Cotelee way back in about 1994 as this link from Tania indicated;

And methinks I would have included it in my tomato heirloom book published in 1999 if I thought it merited it, but it didn't.

There are several Grosses' listed in the 2014 SSE Yearbook for members, but not the Cotelee one.

I don't know the other one you mentioned.

I just checked and you are absolutely right, page 128.

So much for my up until now perfect memory.

I grew MagiQo for the first time this year in SWCs. Large plant, with huge fruit, not many in quantity. Comparatively slow to ripen. Taste, sweet, juicy with few seeds.
I thought at first it was an orange, but goes red when truly ripe.
Will grow it again.

Only a few years ago, there was a big hype about MagiQo in Europe (it originates in Spain). You could order a parcel from Spain with 2 kilograms of fruit for 52 Euros = $66. One single grain of this variety was sold for 5 Euros = $6,5 - I said "no" to myself. The next year, I got seeds for a reasonable price, found it to be a good tomato, worth to be shared with others and sent seeds to Steve from heritagetomatoseed. Here's the link with some pics:

Thanks for pointing that out, Clara. It looks like a good one to try.

I grew Magiqo for the first time this year. Seed was from Heritage. It bore a large quantity of medium to large fruit. The taste was good and was quite disease resistant. The plant grew rather low and bushy.

I prefer Red Brandywine, which is my go-to red. Don't know if I will grow Magiqo again.

Just thought you might be interested.
I have just picked the final MagiQo fruit after closing down the greenhouse for the year. It's getting cold and snowy around here.
Came out to 1lbs 4ozs. Nice eh?

I don't have my notes in front of me right now, but I grew MagiQo this year because I got a free packet of seeds with my order of a bunch of other seeds. I wasn't particularly impressed with anything about it and won't grow it again.

Just another update for MagiQo.
I closed the greenhouse 3 weeks ago, and had a few green ones left. So I took them off, placed them on a window ledge, they ripened and yesterday we had another BLT.
Seems the ripening trait extends considerably under cooler conditions.
